Deepening Our Education

Deepening Our Education

Black History Month

Let’s be real. Learning about Black History in an authentic way is an imperfect process. That has to be okay when venturing out to educate yourself or your children on a complex topic like this. Currently with a 3 and 1 year old the best method for expanding their awareness is books. I have linked a few resources below that I explore for the kids. For Holidays and important dates I like to get books that focus on the topic, so this month I’ll invest further in black authors, diverse background and stories that might bring a unique prospective. By introducing them to new and different people and scenarios I hope to set a foundation that will all us to do deep dives into an accurate portrayal of history. Please check out the resources I’ve provided below. If you have new or better ones please send so I can update my list.
